How I Setup a Successful Blog? Part 2

Hello,

In this email I will give you some ideas I use
for niche and keyword research.

I have mainly prefered working in
‘skin care’ and ‘start internet business’
niche because they have been profitable
for me and I have good grasp on these
subjects.

Here are some points you must keep in
mind before you select a niche…

1. The niche should be something you are
interested in and passionate about.

2. You must have knowledge about this
niche topic or atleast interested or
motivated to gain knowledge and learn
more about the niche.

3. You must enjoy writing about this
niche because writing will be something
you will be doing a lot.

4. The niche must have sufficient demand.
Visit google.com and search for
‘Google Keyword Tool’. It will give you
idea about how many searches happen in
your niche every month.

I prefer to get into a niche that has
atleast 10,000 monthly searches.

5. There must be huge amount of content
or written articles on your niche topic
so that you can research them and create
your own content in future. Search for your
niche keywords in Google.com or
ezinearticles.com and see how many articles
or content pages come up.

6. There must be sufficient products that
you can promote in this niche. Checkout
clickbank.com or cj.com to search for
affiliate products. Do some research on
top 20 sites in your niche and see whether
they are promoting sufficient products
in your niche.

Do you have any ideas or plan to create
your own products in your niche? Think over
this.

7. The people who are searching to solve
problems in your niche, are they willing to
spend money on the products?

Search for Google.com with your niche keywords.
Look at the right side in the sponsor ad section.
If there are sufficient products out there
that simply means that your competitors are
making money advertising their products.

This simply means people are spending money
to purchase products in your niche. Get ideas
as to what your competitors are selling.

Don’t click on their ads as it will cost
them money. Just go through their website
url from your browser and do some research
on their websites.

8. The competition in your niche must be
reasonable. Here are some points I focus on…

a. Type your niche keyword in double quotes,
that is “” in google and see how many pages
are displayed out there.

If it is under 10,000 or 5000 that’s great.

Keep in mind, this is just an indicator. Keywords
with millions of searches can be beaten easily,
the competition is not the only factor that
we have to look into.

b. Check the average page rank of top 20
websites in your niche. If it is 3 then
it is great as you can easily achieve a
page rank of 3 in your niche in one or two
months if you do your promotion correctly.

c. Total number of indexed pages for the
top 20 websites. I know that I can pull up
a 500 page website in next few months so if
the sites have under 500 pages I am happy.

You can check this by searching in google.com
for site:xyz.com where xyz.com is the domain name.

d. Total number of incoming links the top
20 pages have. This is something I will have
to shoot for to get top rankings in the search
engines.

There is a free tool called seoquake.com that
you can download and install.

When you do this seoquake.com will give you
all the above research statistics below all
the searches that appear in google.com

This will make your research process easy
and quick.
